Gareth completed his LLB at the University of Leeds, graduating with a 2:1 and then worked in an executive officer role with the civil service, HM Revenue & Customs.

Gareth went on to complete his Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York. Having concluded his training contract at a firm in Leeds Gareth qualified as a solicitor in 2008.

Gareth has a wealth of experience advising clients detained under the Mental Health Act, regularly representing clients before the First-Tier Tribunal and at Hospital Managers Hearings. Gareth was admitted as a member of the Law Society specialist panel in Mental Health in January 2013 and is a member of the Mental Health Lawyers Association (MHLA). Gareth also supports our growing Court of Protection team advising and representing individuals who lack capacity, and their families, in respect of welfare matters.

Gareth also enjoys spending time with his family and has two young children. He is a keen runner and supporter of Everton FC.
